Water Safety and Life Saving Training

TJL and Water Safety

Whether you work in a leisure centre, keep watch over a hotel pool, assist with swimming lessons, or just take the children swimming at the weekends you should know how to keep the people in your care safe.

We offer structured programs and training that will allow you to firstly recognise the hazards present on site, show you the benefits of keeping activities safe and controlled, provide you with the skills to positively deal with unexpected events that can occur

NPLQ

The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is the nationally recognised qualification for lifeguarding. It is recognised around the globe as a world class qualification and is essential in many leisure centre jobs.

We teach the NPLQ qualification as part of our programme. In July we ran a course and there are now 10 newly qualified lifeguards. They are all in a position to be employed.

National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC)

The NRASTC award is designed for people assisting with water programmes. It is not a lifeguarding qualification, but does allow for example. teaching assistants to help out during a swimming lesson.

Our Trainer Assessors can enable you and / or your staff to achieve this award using a variety of flexible training lessons.

The NRASTC is a supervision and rescue qualification for teachers working on the poolside or in the water during programmed activities, such as a swimming lesson. It is suitable for teachers working in a wide range of swimming pools, including pools where the water is deeper than the teacher’s standing depth.

Aquatic Therapy Shallow Pool Rescue Award (ATSPRA)

The ATSPRA is a supervision and rescue qualification for therapists, teachers, and support staff working on the poolside or in the water during activities such as aquatic therapy or therapeutic exercise/play. The qualification is suitable for use in shallow pools where the rescuer will not be required to swim to perform a rescue, with water no deeper than the rescuers chest depth.

Our Trainer Assessors can enable you and / or your staff to achieve this award using a variety of flexible training lessons.

Emergency Response Pool Programme (ER-Pool)

The ER programme is designed for those who have a responsibility to respond to an emergency within the swimming pool environment when the alarm has been raised. The Emergency Responder can be any member of the facility called upon to rescue and provide first aid.

ER-Pool is also a suitable qualification to back up and support the lifeguard team. In addition, this qualification is an excellent foundation to becoming a lifeguard and completing the RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).

Our Trainer Assessors can enable you and / or your staff to achieve this award using a variety of flexible training lessons.

Rookie LifeGuard

The Rookie Lifeguard program is an exciting programme designed by the RLSS for 8 to 12 year olds. This scheme teaches children how to swim and enjoy water safely, whether in shallow or deeper water.

We teach this programme and include lessons in valuable survival, rescue and sports skills. There are clearly defined levels with learners able to start as brand-new swimmers, and progressing to learning impressive lifesaving skills.

Survive and Save

The Survive and Save programme is offered by the RLSS. This programme offers fun and rewarding challenges for the 12+ age group, and provides skills in lifesaving rescue, self-rescue, survival, lifesaving sport skills and also develops swimming ability and fitness.

Our staff are qualified and able to teach this programme. Providing the tuition, challenges and assessments necessary for the many structured awards.
